The Race of the Noses 2022 chooses to break a new world record with the participation of Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen

Jakob Ingebrigtsen will be the great star of the Cursa dels Nassos

The 1500m Olympic and 5000m world champion will compete for the first time in Spain and will do so accompanied by his brothers Henrik and Filip, both 1500m continental champions.

On December 31, thousands of runners and runners will participate in the last race of the season in Barcelona, the popular Cursa dels Nassos, which this year celebrates its 24th edition and ratifies the very fast 10-kilometre route (a flat route in which vocational long-distance runners tend to pulverize their personal brands).

As in previous courses, an international 5-kilometre race will also be held. In 2021, the current world records in the female and male category were established, Ejgayehu Taye (14:19) and Berihu Aregawi (12:49)

50 days before its celebration, the Cursa dels Nassos confirms the participation of one of the greatest references in the world of athletics: the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen. At just 22 years old, the 1,500m Olympic and world 5,000m champion (and record holder) is already considered one of the best runners of all time. In Barcelona he intends to extend his legacy by attacking the European top (who knows if also world) of the 5 km (the official nomenclature when the 5000 meters are disputed on the road, on asphalt, and not on the tartan of an athletics track).

Jakob's participation (8 times European champion between 1500, 3000, 5000 and cross) in the Cursa dels Nassos will be his debut in a competition in Spain and also in the 5 km modality. A good reference regarding his possibilities: he holds the European record of 5000 meters with 12:48.45. The youngest of the mythical Nordic saga will not be alone in the streets of Barcelona. Alongside him will be his two brothers, Filip and Henrik, both 1500m continental champions. Henrik's best time (the oldest of the three) in the 5000m is 13:15.38; Filip beats her by a few seconds, 13:11.75.

The Councilor for Sports of the Barcelona City Council, David Escudé, has revealed the expectation that this participation will entail for the city: "We want the Cursa dels Nassos 2022 to break records again and become a benchmark, both at the level of races popular 10km races as well as international 5km road races. With the participation of the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen new expectations are opened and, this year, as happened in the past, we hope to experience a historic edition. We are sure that the citizens of Barcelona will close 2022 with a new top-level international sporting event”.
